If you’re the sporty type then the Athletic Union is the one for you. There are 59 sports clubs with a membership of over 5,000 students.
To join a sports club, turn up to the Sports Fayre in Freshers’ Fortnight to take a look at what our clubs offer. Every club has a stall and committee members are on hand to answer your questions. You can sign up to the club and the Athletic Union there and then – getting involved and meeting new people couldn’t be easier.
The AU organises an array of events throughout the year the annual Sports Fayre, the Charity Auction featuring the sport teams talent show, and AU Awards Ball where our athletes get rewarded for their services to sport at Cardiff.
The biggest event of the year is the Varsity Tournament. Cardiff competes in 25 sports against local rivals Swansea, culminating in the rugby match at Cardiff Millennium Stadium in front of 10,000 fans. 2011 is the 15th Anniversary of the Varsity rugby match, so expect an even bigger and better event on the 30th March. Make sure you get your ticket to be part of history.
